Spring is in the air as I write this tea review. The daffodils have popped up and the sun is shining. This means my herb garden will soon be full of life too. One of my staple teas from the herb garden is mint – I grow both spearmint and peppermint. But when it’s out of season, I reach for a dried mint tea like Two Spoons Tea Peppermint.
Two Spoons sent me this tea along with a range of others to review here on the blog and on Instagram. This is the last tea in the bunch!
In the full tea review below you’ll find tasting notes, my preferred brewing method, and some info about the brand as well as links to buy it and try it for yourself.

Not all peppermint is the same. Where it’s grown, how it’s harvested, and how well it is packaged can have a huge impact on the final product. So don’t just assume that this tea will taste like every other peppermint tea you’ve had!
Let’s start with the aroma of the dried peppermint leaves.
There’s so much nuance here. The aroma is grassy in a dark luscious way – like an overgrown lawn in the evening – then cool and sweet with peppermint menthol.
Once brewed into a clear yellow-green tea, the aroma loses some of that freshness to become sweet and warm, with notes of menthol and herbaceous garden mint.
And then there’s the flavour.
It’s sweet and herbal, definitely mellow compared to concentrated peppermint flavours (think toothpaste and gum) but still extremely bright and refreshing. Simple, yes, but extremely delicious.
You’ll notice the texture of this tea as well. A lot of herbal brews come out quite dusty, but this one is clear and perfectly smooth on your tongue. There’s a drying sensation too as the menthol hits in the aftertaste.
It’s a great refreshing after-dinner drink.

How to Brew Peppermint Tea
Fill your kettle with fresh water (reboiling the same water over and over makes your tea taste dull) and use about 250ml for one cup. Let the teabag steep for 3 minutes, then take a sip and decide if you want it a little stronger.
Two Spoons Tea use these pillow-shaped teabags which give the tea leaves so much more room to expand. This is partly why the flavour is superior.
If you like it sweeter, try adding sugar or honey one teaspoon at a time. However, if you’re drinking this for the digestive benefits or before bed, I recommend drinking it plain.
This tea also makes a great iced beverage. Either pour your brewed tea immediately over ice or pop 1 teabag in a glass of cold water in the fridge overnight.
Why Two Spoons Tea?
Two Spoons Tea are a British brand that really cares about sourcing high-quality and delicious teas. Their peppermint infusion won a two-star Great Taste award in 2024 and it’s a direct result of their hard work finding the perfect source for their teas.
The peppermint in this tea is grown across central and southern Europe. It’s cultivated using traditional methods to preserve the verdant aroma and flavour without creating bitterness – and I can attest that it’s very effective!
The leaves in the teabag are large but not full. The teabag itself is commercially compostable (so put it in your food bin at home) and the rest of the packaging is totally plastic-free.
While Two Spoons Tea do offer a range of loose leaf teas, this peppermint tea is currently only available in teabag format.

Does Peppermint Tea Have Health Benefits?
Peppermint is known to be super calming, both for your mind and body. It is high in menthol, which creates that super sharp and bright sensation in your mouth, but also has a lot of natural sweetness.
There’s evidence that peppermint can relieve irritation and inflammation – but usually when it’s applied topically. When consumed as a tea, peppermint can help to settle your stomach and aid digestion, reducing inflammation in the digestive system and also reducing bloating.
I write more about the health benefits of peppermint and other herbal teas in this guide.
Summary
Two Spoons Tea Peppermint is delicious, sweet and refreshing. If you want a high-quality and flavoursome peppermint tea in convenient teabag format, I strongly recommend you give it a go. You can buy it directly from Two Spoons Tea in pouches of 15 teabags.

Tea Recommendation
Peppermint has the ability to quickly clear out the cobwebs with intense freshness. But if menthol isn’t your cup of tea, there are plenty of other refreshing and focus-inducing teas that you can try. I recently reviewed Twinings Focus, another herbal tea with a dedicated purpose.
