Vahdam Pure Mint Tea Review

When I step out into the garden in the summer, one of my favourite things to smell is the herb garden. The sweet lavender, citrusy thyme, and of course, the fresh mint. Whenever I brew a cup of mint tea, that’s the complexity and freshness I hope to smell.

This week, I’m reviewing Vahdam Pure Mint tea. This is a simple mix of peppermint and spearmint, nothing more and nothing less. After reviewing my first ever Vahdam tea a few weeks back, I am incredibly excited for this one!

Find my tasting notes, favoured brew method, and some info about the health benefits of mint tea below.

Vahdam Pure Mint Tea at a Glance

Izzy’s Rating

  • Blend: Peppermint and spearmint, no colourings, flavourings or sweeteners
  • Flavour: Mid-strength mint, a beautiful balance of herbaceous spearmint and menthol-bright peppermint

This is a very simple tea, but it has been perfectly blended to highlight the best of peppermint and spearmint flavours. It’s smooth, slightly drying, and very soothing to sip after a heavy meal.

Full Review – Peppermint & Spearmint Tea

  • Type: Tagged teabag
  • Ingredients: Spearmint, peppermint
  • Health Benefits: Aid digestion, freshen breath
  • Flavour Notes: Menthol, herbaceous, woody, fresh mint
  • Aroma: Earthy, menthol, sweet, refreshing

  • Where to Buy: Amazon

Opening the packet, oooh yeah, it hits the spot! It’s minty and fresh, slightly earthy with that shockingly bright note of menthol appearing too. From the start, I’d describe it as mid-strength, with a good balance of both peppermint and spearmint present.

It brews into a caramel brown colour, very dark but still clear.

Breathe in deeply as this tea brews to really appreciate the refreshing aroma. It’s minty but with enough herbal complexity that it smells less like toothpaste and more like a stroll through a patch of mint plants.

As for the flavour, it’s good. It’s not spectacular, but it is definitely one of the better mint teas I’ve tried. The peppermint provides freshness and menthol notes, the spearmint provides earthiness and warmth. Vahdam has balanced them perfectly so there’s not too much of either flavour.

The texture is smooth and has a drying quality on your tongue. This adds to the refreshing sensation and helps it cleanse your palate like no other tea.

It’s a very good, albeit simple, mint tea from Vahdam.

How to Brew Mint Tea Blends

Herbal teas are often best brewed long and hot. You can even leave the teabag in your cup to continue brewing as you sip. I brewed my teabag for three minutes in approximately 250ml of boiling water.

Mint has a natural sweetness, but with the earthiness of spearmint in this tea, it can stand up to a teaspoon of sugar or honey if you have a particularly sweet tooth. You could also try a slice of lemon, which is very refreshing in the summer.

This pure mint tea is caffeine-free, so you can drink it at any time of day. It is best consumed after food, rather than with food, to freshen up your mouth.

Why Vahdam Tea?

Two things immediately stand out with Vahdam. The first is their packaging – the foil wrappers on each individual teabag keep the ingredients incredibly fresh. When you rip open the packet, you are immediately hit with the aroma whether you take a deep breath or not!

The other is the balance of ingredients. I know you’re probably thinking, it’s just mint tea, how complex can it be?

But let me tell you, I have tried many a mint tea to discover dull flavours, dusty notes, or even totally overpowering menthol that’s so strong you can barely taste anything after. What Vahdam has done here to balance the spearmint and peppermint requires patience and skill. They’ve definitely NOT just filled a teabag with a mix of mint leaves and left it at that.

Does Mint Tea Have Health Benefits?

Mint certainly has potential health benefits, but whether they’ll affect you depends not just on the strength of the tea and how much you consume, but on your own body.

You could find that mint is good for:

  • Clearing your mind, providing energy and focus
  • Settling your stomach and digestive system
  • Balance your hormones for PCOS girlies (spearmint in particular)

I encourage you to listen to your body and follow your intuition. If mint tea is soothing your symptoms or feels good to drink, then go for it! This is a key concept of The Navigation Codex.
