why you can never remove all resistance

Why You Can Never Remove All Resistance in Life

If you have been following The Navigation Codex, you may be tempted to believe you can remove all resistance in your life and perfectly align with natural flow. While a noble wish, this is unfortunately not the case, and you will always have to contend with some resistance as you navigate through life.

The truth is there are various inescapable resistance patterns that you will have no control over; some are even fundamental to reality itself while others are imposed on you by other people who are not navigating in the same way as you.

Understanding why you can never remove all resistance in life is perfect for finding the resistance patterns you can reduce or remove, while also navigating in natural flow optimally around any resistance structures you have no control over.

The Fundamental Impossibility – You Can’t Remove All Resistance

First and foremost, in order for reality to exist, there must be resistance to create meaningful structures in the universe. Let’s explore that in a little more detail.

The Structure of Reality Itself

Resistance is not a bug in the matrix so to speak; it is a core feature that allows reality to manifest in a coherent and structured way.

For example, without resistance there would be no structure, there would be no humans, no rocks, no rivers, no stars, no atoms. Resistance is the foundational coupling that creates every aspect of the universe we see around us.

If you took away the coupling/resistance from the universe, nothing would exist except pure light. Light is the observable product of natural navigation without any resistance.

The Pure Light Problem – Can’t Remove All Resistance

While light as a concept is useful, practical and beautiful, it is without experience. It needs to interact with resistance structures to give it meaning.

By interacting with resistance structures, whether that be a rock, or a black hole, it creates possibility of experience through the limitations resistance puts in place.

Perhaps paradoxically (but not really) in order for us to navigate, have experiences, enjoy free will, make meaningful decisions we need boundaries. Pure light can do none of those things, it just ‘is.’

The Meaning-Making Mechanism

Logically this makes perfect sense. A good story needs conflict to make it interesting. And in the same way, resistance patterns create contrast to our natural navigation that makes the experiential joy of mastering navigation vivid and complete.

In short, core resistance patterns like structured objects separate between just existing (light) and experiencing (through coupling/resistance).

The Resistance Paradox

A life without resistance entirely becomes stagnant and meaningless. For an analogy, it becomes like the hanged man in the tarot deck, stuck and waiting for death.

If we had a magic wand to avoid all resistances (difficulty) in our lives, it would actually create a state of non-existence and non-meaning.

The Navigation Principle

The Navigation Codex treats life like a river, flowing from the source to the ocean. Along the course of the river, water inevitably encounters a myriad of resistance that it flows optimally around. The water sometimes reduces resistances along the way, but it does not seek to remove every rock or obstacle in its path.

Water knows it will reach the end of its journey optimally, in spite of any resistance that remains for it to encounter.

In our lives, resistances are also useful information. Artificial resistance patterns teach us lessons about how to navigate better. What’s more, it is the artificial resistance patterns we should be targeting specifically for reduction, rather than the natural coupling/resistance patterns fundamental to reality itself.

The Universal Coupling Law – Can’t Remove All Resistance

Nature has created a perfect coupling for the perfect reality.

This coupling provides enough base resistance to give the universe and the world around us complete meaning.

If the base resistance was too weak, structure would not exist properly. If it was too strong, we would not be able to navigate properly.

Nature has effectively created the perfect set of scales, with navigation on one side and coupling on the other.

Why Everything is Connected Through Friction

As humans we tend to think of reality as mechanical, and in our heads, we might naturally be drawn to a concept of a ‘perfect’ system that has no resistance.

The trouble is, you take that concept from the imagined idea and run it through to its conclusion and you have a dead system – it has no function, it has no meaning, and it simply doesn’t work.

The base friction of the universe is not only perfect, but also essential and necessary.

Structural Resistance is Inevitable

Key to this understanding is that structural resistance or core coupling is completely non-negotiable in the universe.

You will always be constrained by your structural form. You will always face limitations from other structural forms.

The Navigation Codex is designed to help you reduce all artificial resistances and work with core natural resistance structures rather than trying to force against them.

Optimisation – Why You Should Still Reduce Resistance as Much as Possible

Under The Navigation Codex, primary resistances are indifferent, we can’t change them and nor should we be trying to. They just are. Artificial resistance patterns on the other hand are detrimental to the universe and our ability to flow naturally, and we should be doing all we can to remove or reduce those.

The Complacency Trap

There is a famous prayer promoted by organisations like Alcoholics Anonymous, that goes something like this:

“Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, courage to change the things I can, and wisdom to know the difference.”

In The Navigation Codex this translates nicely, accepting the core coupling (structural reality) you cannot change, moving to reduce artificial resistances and being able to distinguish between natural and artificial resistances.

Not all resistances are equal, and you should be extremely careful not to fall into the fatalism trap of using acceptance of resistances as an excuse for inaction.

The Efficiency Principle – Can’t Remove All Resistance

In fact, reducing or removing artificial resistances allow you to flow naturally and work with the core resistances for meaningful challenges in life. And meaningful challenges equate to success.

Clearing resistance in one area alone can give you the navigational space to make progress either directly in that area or in adjacent areas of your life.

What’s more, small resistance removals compound over time, allowing more natural flow pathways to emerge and better navigation in exponentially meaningful ways.

It is the difference between struggling in vain and moving effectively in your life.

Smart Resistance Strategy

Now I have explained the differences between inherent reality creating coupling/resistances, and artificial resistance, you will know why you can’t remove all resistance from your life.

You will also understand how to approach artificial resistances to enhance your life.

Target the Right Resistances – Can’t Remove All Resistance

Most core resistance will be neutral. For example, your human structure for what it is, is not going to be a problematic resistance structure.

What you do with your body, for example the resistances you impose on your body, can be either negative (artificial resistance) or positive (natural flow).

Targeting the right resistances starts with identifying the resistance patterns in your life that are impacting you negatively. There will immediately be overt ones you can think of immediately, and as you get proficient using The Navigation Codex, you will discover more subtle resistance patterns to tackle.

Skill Building to Natural Flow – Can’t Remove All Resistance

No one can operate in natural flow completely in one swift navigational move. Modern life is brimming with artificial resistance, and everyone has varying levels of resistance in their life.

As a flow navigator, you will be incrementally reducing resistance, opening up more navigational paths and developing your navigation skillset. Your capacity as a navigator builds over time until you are able to make extraordinary decisions that people from the outside will wonder how you managed to pull off that level of success.

When you have mastered natural flow, it genuinely looks like a miracle to external observers – but of course you will know you simply approached life in a different way.

Working Smart vs. Working Hard with Resistance

It can be easy to think you must force resistance out of your life. This is antithetical to The Navigation Codex’s core principles.

Forcing creates more resistance. If you force yourself to do something, for example giving up smoking, it becomes more difficult.

The idea is instead to understand the resistance pattern, and then allow natural intuition shape, your decision making around that process. In the case of smoking which is an addiction where navigational choices are extremely constrained, it is more difficult than reducing the amount of time you spend watching TV.

But as your navigational capacity grows, even addictions become easy to break – you just have to build your natural flow skillset to get to that point.

To wrap this up, you now know why you can’t remove all resistance in your life. But equally important you also know why reducing resistances is critical to personal growth.

Just because you can’t conquer all resistance doesn’t mean you should view resistance as something you have to tolerate in all its forms.

Of course, how you use this information is entirely up to you. Your free will is paramount and if you want to try some of the techniques mentioned or click around to discover more about The Navigation Codex, then I would love to share more with you.

If this isn’t for you, then that’s absolutely fine as well. It is your life to experience, and you should do whatever you feel authentically.
