Timeless Meditation Practices – Beyond Timed Meditations

When you think about meditation, you will often think about how much time you have to allocate to it. This can cause resistance in itself as you may limit your meditative experience or forego it altogether. Timeless meditation practices are a cornerstone of The Navigation Codex.

Discover what timeless mediation is and how to optimally meditate and align with natural flow.

Timeless Meditation Practices

The timeless meditation is one of complete convenience. Instead of having to dedicate a set amount of time to your meditation you simply meditate for as long as it feels good. This can be simple three minute meditations to extensive three hour meditations – and everything in between.

It’s entirely up to you.

The reason The Navigation Codex demands timeless meditation is because time is not a fundamental part of reality, it is instead how you subjectively experience navigational change.

When we are in resistance, time slows and when in flow, time speeds up.

Flow State Meditations – Timeless Meditation Practices

If you enjoy the experience of meditation and find yourself in natural flow, you will find more time has passed when your meditation ends than you expected.

There are various meditation practices currently that actually create resistance, so let’s briefly look at those.

Meditate for X Amount of Time – Most people intuitively feel this is resistance. Meditations become time contingent, and we may feel a meditation goes on too long or it is too short. People unfortunately see time as something they ‘have’ and then commodify it, which means meditation becomes an exchange of time for wellbeing.

Clear Your Mind – Most modern proponents of meditation will wrongly try to push you into a state of ‘mindlessness’ or ‘thoughtlessness’. The truth is you are building in resistance to your meditation by trying to force a state of mind during the practice. Thoughts are natural, let them come and go as they ordinarily would and remember you are experiencing self-awareness in a completely natural state by doing so.

Sit in a Specific Posture – There is a large proportion of meditations that tell you to sit upright, sometimes legs crossed and normally hands in your lap. If that feels natural to you, then do it, but some people can’t achieve that posture without feeling pain or discomfort. When meditating under The Navigation Codex, sit or lie down in the position that feels most natural and comfortable for you.

Breath in Specific Ways – Some meditations practice box breathing or specific breathing rhythms. Under The Navigation Codex, breathing should be natural. You should allow your body to relax into the natural flow of breathing and understand you are more aligned when your body and mind ease together.

Don’t Fidget – Stillness is a core component of most meditation practices. This is intuitively unnatural. Humans like to reacclimatise to their surroundings, have an occasional itch scratched and fidget in general. Move as you please when meditating and understand your natural inclination to move should not be fought against.

How to Meditate the Navigation Codex Way

Now we have looked at the stark differences between traditional meditation practices and The Navigation Codex method, let’s summarise how to meditate in a natural and flow aligned way.

  • Meditate only as long as you’re enjoying the experience.
  • Move around as necessary and sit or lie down in a position most comfortable for you.
  • Breath naturally, allow the breath to flow into your body and understand the unification between mind and body that breathing bridges.
  • Don’t fight thoughts, allow all thoughts to come and go as they naturally would.

The goal is to be self-aware, to sit in your body naturally and allow your natural instincts to guide you through the meditation process.

Building Your Personal Timeless Mediation Practices

We are all unique and have various things we might enjoy while meditating. Some people like to burn incense; others like to clasp crystals in their hands. Whatever helps you feel that self-awareness and natural flow is fine.

There are a few steps you can take to promote natural flow in meditation.

Consider your location – For some people it might be difficult to find a quiet location to meditate but, if possible, you should aim for a space with as little external distractions as possible. Ideally as you’re seeking natural alignment, it is a great idea to get out into nature to meditate.

Remove Artificial Resistance – Technology in your meditation location will be distracting to some extent. Turn your phone and digital devices off and even go as far as unplugging the TV instead of having it on standby.

Music is Your Friend – While most technology is a no go, if you have a simple music player, this can really help you settle into natural flow. Music has a transcendent property that helps listeners experience deep emotions and the rhythmic nature of music can help your body and mind synchronise.

Flow not Force – Sometimes meditating just won’t click. That is not a failure, instead think of it as your body’s way of saying not now, try another time. If you feel yourself forcing through a meditation or trying to fight to stay in a meditative state, you’re doing it wrong.

Signs You’re in Flow with Timeless Meditation Practices

Meditation in natural flow will feel effortless. The concerns you had around posture, movement and thoughtfulness slip away and you feel a transcendent experience of oneness with the universe.

When you have experienced all you need to, there will be no will to continue beyond what is necessary. Your intuition will spark, and previous problems will diminish with novel and optimal solutions appearing.

It becomes a journey of experiential self-reflection that connects you to your inner voice and the world around you.

After all is said and done, you will glance over at the clock and wonder where the time went.

Your Unique Path to Meditative Success

How you approach meditation is entirely your choice and I can only point you in the right direction with my approach.

There is also a great level of customisation available as there are no rigid rules that you have to follow. Like I mentioned earlier, if you want to incorporate other aspects you enjoy from previous meditations into your Navigation Codex meditation that is encouraged.
