If you’ve seen Perfect Ted winking at you from the supermarket meal deal shelves, here’s everything you need to know. This week, I’m reviewing their Apple Raspberry flavour. Last time, I reviewed their Juicy Peach flavour and concluded that it was a delicious clean energy drink but the loosest definition of tea ever.
Let’s see if Apple Raspberry is more of the same.
In this tea review you’ll find detailed info about the ingredients, flavour, caffeine levels and the Perfect Ted brand. I’ve also included some links to buy it online, so you can try it for yourself!
Perfect Ted Matcha Apple Raspberry at a Glance
Izzy’s Rating
- Ingredients: Sparkling water, fruit juice from concentrate, matcha, B-vitamins and tea extract
- Flavour: Sugary sweet with matcha bitterness and apple juice notes with a pop of raspberry
I love how bright and sweet this drink is – apple and raspberry are a great combination and so juicy too. Unfortunately, the matcha is a little bit bitter.

Opening the can, the initial aroma is of fresh raspberries and subtle apple juice – super refreshing and bright! There are also hints of matcha popping up with that distinctive grassy note. This is a fantastic start. You wouldn’t believe how many teas I’ve reviewed that totally miss the headline flavours from the off.
The colour once poured from the matcha energy drink can is rose gold with brown tones. It’s giving major cider vibes.
As for the flavour, it’s very nice. Undeniably sweet in a fruity concentrated way with a bitter matcha hint chasing it down. Traditionally, bitter matcha is a huge no-no, but when paired with sugary fruit flavours, that bitterness becomes a welcome virtue to provide balance.
The texture is bright and fizzy but not overly hydrating, so it’s not the best candidate if you need to quench your thirst. It’s also way too strong to have on an empty stomach, as I felt quite peculiar after taste-tasting it at 9am.
Ultimately, you need to treat it like an energy drink (albeit a clean, tea-based one) to truly enjoy it.

How to Serve Apple Raspberry
I kept mine in the fridge overnight so it was nice and cold, but you could pour it over ice for the same effect. The warmer the drink is, the more overpowering the sweetness will become.
For me, this is a great early-afternoon beverage. It has a strong caffeine kick (80mg vs the traditional cup of tea at 50mg) and plenty of sweetness to satisfy your sweet tooth. But, as mentioned, it’s too strong to drink early or late in the day.
This beverage isn’t designed for adding additional ingredients. No lemon slices, teaspoons of sugar, or milk required. Just crack open the can and it will be ready to go.
Why Perfect Ted?
Whether the ingredients in this beverage are good or not really depends on your measuring stick.
Compared to energy drinks, this beverage is a super clean source of energy with raspberry juice, natural flavours, caffeine from matcha and tea extract, and a handful of B vitamins.
Compared to matcha tea, this beverage is awful. It contains barely any matcha (both in flavour and ingredients), so it relies on extracts to create that caffeine buzz. The apple juice is from concentrate and the need to include natural flavourings suggests that the apple and raspberry juices just aren’t strong enough.

There are only 12 calories per can, no added sugar, and 80mg of caffeine total. You might also be swayed by the brand itself – Perfect Ted is a British brand that only sources organic ceremonial grade matcha from the Uji region of Japan.
Summary
I guess the real question is, “are you looking for tea or an energy drink?” If you are after an energy drink, Perfect Ted’s healthy energy range is definitely for you. But if you came here looking for a more convenient way to enjoy matcha, you might be disappointed.
Thankfully, healthy energy drinks aren’t the only products that Perfect Ted offer. If you want flavoured matcha powder to whisk or shake up, they’ve got that too.
You can find Perfect Ted Apple Raspberry and their range of flavoured matcha powders on their website (button below) or on Amazon UK.

Tea Recommendation
If apple is your favourite flavour but you aren’t ready to commit to 80mg of caffeine, then you have a huge range of apple-flavoured herbal teas available. I’ve reviewed so many here on the blog, but if I could recommend just one this week, it would be Clean Tea Co Sorrel Cinnamon Apple Tea.
