I have written this as an overview, a simple way to get to know me!
The home I grew up in: Was a new build in a little village in the rural countryside of Essex. My parents moved in ’86, the following year the UK experienced the biggest hurricane in its history, our house had one roof tile dislodged to the envy of our cul-de-sac.
When I was a child I wanted to be: A Policeman.
The moment that changed me for ever: At 15 years old I moved out of my mother’s house and went to live with my father. It was the first time I had made a decision that was purely selfish. It was both courageous and foolhardy and a path I have never looked back on.
I ride: Honda Shadow VT125 custom Cruiser.
If I could change one thing about myself: It would be my propensity to be impetuous after a beverage too many.
At night I dream of: Paths not yet taken, music I cannot play and words as yet unwritten.
What I see when I look in the mirror: Un-actualised potential
My style icon: Chris Eubank Jr
The shop I can’t walk past: Any record store. I have been collecting vinyl for a few years now and find it hard to resist looking for a bargain.
A book that changed me: The Alchemist, by Paulo Coelho. This book taught me about the Soul of the World. How the Universe conspires around our dreams and what it means to live a life that follows them.
The last album I bought: Eton Alive, by Sleaford Mods.
The person who really makes me laugh: My wife. We share the same dark twisted sense of humour.
It’s not fashionable but I like: Loud shirts. I have a few now in my wardrobe but I have to pick the occasions to fashion them carefully.
My favourite work of art is: Jackson Pollock; summertime 9A. I first saw this piece displayed at the Tate Modern, London. This painting reflects Pollock’s belief that “The modern artist is working and expressing an inner world”
My favourite item of clothing: My dressing gown. If I am at home and I have no need to venture far from my lounge, that’s what I’ll be wearing.
You wouldn’t not know it but I’m very good at: Making a fool of myself.
You may not know it but I’m no good at: Hiding my emotions – I would make a terrible professional poker player.
All my money goes on: Bills. Literally bills and the occasional but infrequent night out.
If I have time to myself: I will be either be reading or writing but predominantly drinking tea. If the weather permits you’ll see me take the bike out and when the wife permits I’ll have the record player spinning some contemporary blues rock.
My house: Is a lovely little rented 3 bed property in Devon. The wife and I moved in 3 weeks after we married and it’s where we are beginning our lives together.
My most valuable possession: Is my Life. Like yours, it is a gift and it needs to be treated kindly and with respect.
Movie heaven: Gritty, Gangster and thought provoking. Think True Romance followed by Shawshank Redemption.
The best invention ever: Wine.
I wish I’d never worn: Nike TN hats and Adidas trousers tucked into white socks and Reebok Classics.
In 10 years’ time, I hope to have: 3 children and career that can sustain them.
My greatest regret: Not knowing Temperance.
My life in six words: To be taken by the horns…
